The organisation believes the Conservation Commission’s 10-year Forest Management Plan for State forests proposes unsustainable logging quotas.

Co-ordinator Patrick Weir said the group’s bottom line, ‘Stop Stripping Our Forests Bare,’ attracted plenty of interest.

‘The issue of forest management is again grabbing public attention,’ he said.

‘We feel a responsibility to ensure that the introduction of the Forest Management Plan doesn’t slip under the political radar.’

Environment Minister Albert Jacob will soon decide whether to sign off on the plan.

Forest Legacy will hold its Last Stand Forest Rally in Forrest Place this Saturday, October 19 at noon.
