Harrisdale: bushfire puts lives and homes at risk

UPDATE 2pm: The threat level of a bushfire in Harrisdale has been downgraded.

A hectare of land was burnt during the bushfire that started after 10.30am this morning.

It is still burning but is contained and under control.

Fire crews are still at the scene mopping up.

All roads have been re-opened, but motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

10.42am: LIVES and homes are in danger from a bushfire in Perth’s south-east.

A watch and act alert has been issued for parts of Harrisdale in the City of Armadale.

Some roads may be closed and drivers have been warned to avoid the area, slow down and drive carefully due to smoke.

The fire started near the intersection of Harrisdale Drive and Benalla Drive in Harrisdale.

The fire is out of control and unpredictable.

DFES has advised people not to try and return home if they are out.
