Historic sex crimes: Gosnells man charged with a raft of offences dating back to 1991

A 54-year-old Gosnells man has been charged with a series of sex offences in Perth and Albany, committed between 1991 and 1993.

The arrest came about after a cold case review by the State Crime Operations Squad.

In the first incident, the man allegedly committed an indecent act in front of two 16-year-old female shop assistants in a Cannington store on the morning of August 3, 1991.

The second incident occurred almost two months later, also in Cannington.

A 17-year-old girl was walking through a shopping centre car park when the man allegedly grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her about 7.30pm on September 27, 1991.

The third incident occurred in an Albany school about 6.30pm on March 25, 1993.

It will be alleged a 15-year-old girl was walking through the school grounds when she was grabbed from behind before being sexually assaulted.

The Gosnells man has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of aggravated sexual penetration without consent and one count of aggravated indecent assault.

He also faces a count of aggravated indecent assault, one count of performing an indecent act and two counts of deprivation of liberty.

The man is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
