POLICE have revealed a ‘pen gun’ was behind the firearm scare in Kelmscott yesterday that prompted the local high school to be locked down for about 30 minutes.

Police attended a home in Slee Avenue Kelmscott yesterday shortly after 2pm to follow up on reports gunshots had been heard.

Tactical Response Group officers entered the home and, during a search of the backyard, officers located a homemade pen gun in a tree.

A tree stump showed evidence of bullet holes, believed to be from occupants of the home shooting at the stump.

A 33-year-old woman who lives at the home will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date on drug-related charges.

Local detectives are conducting inquiries into the whereabouts of a man in his 30s who usually resides at the home.

There are no concerns for public safety.
