COMMUNITY consultation has begun on proposed road improvements to Gay Street in Huntingdale.

The State Government has given the City of Gosnells $250,000 to remove multiple speed humps which have been unpopular with local motorists.

Residents have reported they do not adequately slow traffic and cars travelling over them can be noisy.

City of Gosnells will notify affected residents of the proposed changes, including details of the works and design plans.

Public submissions must be received by the council no later than Thursday November 24.

Southern River MLA Terry Healy said he was happy to see the plans to tackle the long-running issue had come to fruition.

“I encourage those affected to have their say and respond to the call for feedback and together we can achieve the best outcome for our community,” he said.

Works are expected to begin early 2018.
