Inmates stabbed at Perth prison

A PRISONER is in hospital following a stabbing at the same Perth prison where an inmate was fatally bashed a month earlier.

The stabbed prisoner, who is in a stable condition, was one of two inmates injured during an incident at Hakea Prison on Saturday.

Another prisoner who was also stabbed has since returned to jail.

Western Australia Police and prison authorities are investigating the stabbing, the Department of Justice said on Sunday.

Saturday’s incident follows the death of prisoner Alf Eades earlier in March, weeks after he was found alone and critically injured in his cell at Hakea Prison.
