Maddington man charged after leading police on chase through eastern suburbs

POLICE have charged a Maddington man who allegedly had a return to prison warrant following a chase through Perth’s eastern suburbs overnight.

About 10.10pm, Gosnells police noticed a green Ford Falcon driving erratically along Nullagine Way and the driver failed to heed directions to stop.

The vehicle evaded police through Gosnells, Camillo, Kelmscott, Canning Mills and Kalamunda.

Police successfully deployed a road spike on Brookton Highway, which deflated the tyres and caused the driver to lose control and crash into a brick wall.

After the driver attempted to flee the scene, Police dog Floki pursued him and detained him for officers.

The 21-year-old driver will appear in Armadale Magistrates court today charged with failure to stop, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, giving false details to police and no authority to drive.
