Man charged after Martin siege

A 65-year-old man has been charged after a siege in the south-eastern suburb of Martin earlier this week.

Police were called to a Douglas Road home about 9am on Monday to help another agency.

Once there, a five-hour stand-off was sparked when a 64-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man allegedly made threats.

The Tactical Response Group attended the scene, and the couple were takenĀ into custody.

Both the man and woman were taken to hospital, where the woman later died.

Armadale Detectives have charged a 65-year-old Martin man with possessing a firearm with circumstances of aggravation, being an unlicensed person in possession of a firearm/ammunition and issuing threats to injure, endanger or harm any person.

He is next due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on January 29.
