Officers backed away once the helicopter was above the car and Police Air Wing monitored from the air.

Police said a stinger device was deployed and the car was found abandoned a short time later in Cullen Court, Camillo.

The driver was arrested near the abandoned car after he allegedly fled on foot.

The 45-year-old man from Camillo has been charged with home burglary and commit, stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving to escape police, failing to stop, no authority to drive and possessing a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and was due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court today.

Police said the investigation was ongoing to determine whether the incident is linked to several other burglaries in the Thornlie area around the same time.
