Man charged over alleged Kelmscott sexual assault

A 47-year-old man has been charged with rape after incidents in Kelmscott on Saturday night.

About 7.55pm a 16-year-old girl was sitting under a shelter near the Kelmscott Train Station when the man allegedly approached her and produced a knife.

He allegedly forced the girl to walk with him across Streich Avenue before she was able to break free and run to the train station.

The man was seen running south on Streich Avenue.

The second incident occurred about 8.45pm at a home in Kelmscott.

It will be alleged the man sexually assaulted a woman in her 20’s.

In the early hours of Sunday morning police executed a search warrant in Camillo.

A 47-year-old man from that address has been charged with two counts of deprivation of liberty, seven counts of aggravated sexual penetration without consent, one count of threatening to injure, endanger or harm a person and one count of aggravated burglary.

He is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court today.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with any information in relation to either of these incidents to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
