Man charged over Kelmscott and Camillo bushfires

A MAN has been charged after allegedly setting fire to bushland on two separate occasions.

About 4pm on January 28 the man allegedly set fire to bushland on Cockram Road in Kelmscott.

The fire burnt 12ha and spread to a nearby property damaging bushland and a fence

The man also allegedly set fire to scrub on a vacant block on Gertrude Avenue in Camillo in December 2017.

Police charged a 26-year-old of no fixed address with two counts of wilfully lighting a fire likely to injure or damage.

He is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court today.

Police have continued to investigate other fires that have occurred in the area since December 2017.
