Man charged over serious Thornlie car crash

A 23-year-old man has been charged over a car accident in Thornlie that left another man seriously injured in hospital.

Police allege that at about 6.20pm on Tuesday, the man was driving a Honda Accord north along Spencer Road.

At the intersection of Grenadier Street, the Accord hit a Mitsubishi Magna sedan that was travelling south along Spencer Road.

The 35-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Honda and his 26-year-old female passenger were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The man has been charged with reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation.

He has also been charged with being the driver of a vehicle which failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation) and having no authority drive.

A bedside hearing took place today and he has been remanded in custody.

He will next appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on May 17.
