Man charged with attempt to kill over crash

A MAN has been charged with attempting to unlawfully kill after a serious crash in Oakford yesterday.

It will be alleged the 22-year-old man was driving a 2004 grey Ford Falcon Utility, with an 18-year-old female passenger, travelling west on Thomas Road at about 1.20pm.

Police said the man collided with a 2015 white Ford Transit van, which was travelling east on Thomas Road, near the intersection of Kargotich Road.

The driver of the Transit van, a 58-year-old man, and the passenger of the utility received non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the 22-year-old man suffered a broken leg and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance.

He has been charged with attempting to unlawfully kill, and an unlawful act or omission with intent to harm.

Police said the man was awaiting surgery and a bedside hearing would be held as soon as possible.
