Heavy police presence after Langford shooting

HOMES in Perth’s south east are in lockdown with a heavy police presence at the scene of a shooting in Langford.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, has been rushed to hospital following an incident in Wingrove Road.

St John Ambulance took the man to Royal Perth Hospital under priority conditions.

WA Police confirmed officers responded to reports of a firearm incident at about 1pm.

“It is believed a firearm was discharged once,” the force said in a statement.

“A man received a gunshot wound and has been taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

“Police, including Tactical Response Group officers, and other emergency responders are currently on scene.

“Police have cordoned off the area and members of the public are advised to stay away from Wingrove Road and surrounding areas.

“At this time there are no immediate concerns regarding broader public safety.”

A large number of police and emergency vehicles are in the area and members of the public have been urged to stay away.

“It is not known how long the area will remain closed off to the public,” police said.

“Further updates will be provided if the situation changes.”
