Mattress set on fire in Hakea Prison

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Hakea Prison on Saturday night after a report an inmate set alight a mattress and linen.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to the Canning Vale jail just before 10pm to find the fire had already been extinguished, causing about $2000 damage .

It is understood no one was injured and that an inmate was helping Corrective Services with inquiries.
