Jessica NicoComment News

THE judges were wowed with the calibre of artwork on offer at Friday night’s 2018 Minnawarra Art Awards.

With more than 40 talented artists shortlisted for this year’s exhibition, the judges had their work cut out for them as they whittled down the entries to just four winners. Eva Fernandez was picked as the winner of the $5000 Gerry Gauntlett Award for her piece A Rare Bird in the Lands.

Among other things, the judges said the piece was “sophisticated and technically strong, (with) effective framing”.
