A THORNLIE bakery has been fined $10,000 for the “sale of unsuitable food” after it was found to have sold a birthday cake with mould inside.

Bruce Hahn posted a negative review about Krusty Kob bakery, at Forest Lakes Shopping Centre, on Google Reviews, saying they had nearly ruined his son’s ninth birthday.

“Why do you not care if you sell mouldy cakes?” Mr Hahn wrote.

“The owner did not seem to care at all that this nearly ruined his birthday.

“She picked the cake apart and then had the cheek to say that half of it was ok.

“(Only) once I erupted in disbelief did she say to her co-worker ‘give him his money back’.

“They would not return the cake and the owner did not apologise.”

The date of the offence was listed by the Health Department as December 1 last year,  but Mr Hahn confirmed to Community News the date of sale was November 12, 2017.

Krusty Kob in Thornlie was investigated by the City of Gosnells, and it was convicted of the sale of unsuitable food on April 9 this year.

The bakery was fined $10,000 and ordered to pay $1800 in costs.
