AN Afternoon Teal event will raise funds for ovarian cancer research at the Mundijong Public Library on Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3pm.
The event also aims to raise awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms because there are no early detection tests.
About 1550 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Australia each year and more than 1200 women die each year from the disease.
For a $5 donation, people can hear the stories of guest speakers whose lives have been impacted by ovarian cancer and an informal afternoon tea will be served.
Teal is the designated colour for ovarian cancer so people are encouraged to wear teal or purchase merchandise to show support.
The library is also looking for volunteer guest speakers and participants for the ‘Bring and Buy’ cake stall.
Call 9526 1133 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register for the event.
