New supermarket must buy into art

Councillors included a public art policy provision as a condition of approval at a recent meeting.

Coles will have to pay a contribution towards public art, in accordance with the Shire’s planning regulations.

The supermarket giant will be given two options: pay the Shire $240,000 or 2 per cent of the development’s construction cost of the development in lieu of providing on-site public art or seek approval for an artist to provide at least $240,000 of art.
