City of Gosnells chief executive Ian Cowie said the community garden was part of the City’s beautification strategy to encourage people to have a sense of pride in the visual amenity of their area.

A busy bee at the garden was attended by 50 young people aged from 14 to 18 years who joined with 20 youth leaders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Thornlie.

A working group of students, community members, local businesses and community agencies will now be formed to design the garden space, develop garden beds and co-ordinate the overall running of the garden.
