A PARENT has been injured trying to rescue their child who had fallen between the platform and a passenger train at Gosnells railway station.

The Australian Transportation Safety Bureau is investigating the incident, which happened on October 26.

The young child fell between the platform and train just before 4pm.

As the parent and other passengers tried to rescue the child the train pulled out, seriously injuring the parent.

The train, which was travelling from Perth to Armadale, stopped after travelling about 10 metres.

The parent was treated in hospital. The child was not injured.
