Plane sailing for orchestra at Serpentine Airfield

THE South Side Symphony Orchestra will bring its musical magic to the Serpentine Airfield on November 1 at 4pm.

The orchestra will perform much loved tracks such as Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream Overture and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

The performance will showcase the orchestra under the musical direction of Aaron Wyatt, along with young Armadale soprano Bianca Hurley.

The Melville-based orchestra will combine its music with the vintage aeroplanes in an outdoor picnic setting.

The airfield is a private airfield run by the Sport Aircraft Builders Club of WA and provides a venue for members to base and operate home-built aircraft

The fleet of aircraft include vintage, military and ultra light planes, some of which will provide a backdrop to the performance by SSSO.

Last year’s performance attracted more than 200 people.

The cost is $15 adults, $12 concession and family passes are available. Children under 16 are $5.

People attending are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
