Police concerned after boy (9) is approached by man in Brookdale

POLICE are seeking information about the suspicious approach of a child in Brookdale yesterday afternoon.

About 3.20pm, a nine-year-old boy was walking along Tijuana Road, near the Don Simmons Reserve, when he was approached by a man.

The man put his arm around the boy twice and each time the boy shrugged him away.

The man asked the boy several questions before offering him a lift in his car.

The man put his arm around the boy tighter a third time and the boy managed to run away from the man.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Broadley said: “Police are very concerned about this incident and we urge anyone with any information to assist us with our investigation.”

The man is described as: fair skinned, medium build, about 178cm tall with an Australian accent, balding with mid-ear length straight gold-brown hair and wearing a red t-shirt and blue board-shorts.
