Police dogs Nikko and Rivva form an arresting combination in Kenwick

POLICE dogs Nikko and Rivva formed a dynamite pairing on Monday night, helping to make two arrests after a traffic stop in Kenwick.

About 10:50pm Police attempted to stop a stolen Mitsubishi Lancer on Tonkin Highway.

A vehicle matching its description had been linked to a number of burglary and evade police incidents.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and the officers followed the vehicle to the intersection of Kenwick Link and Royal Street, where it stopped and several people ran from the car.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was detained.

Canine Units attended the location, and police dogs Nikko and Rivva were deployed.

Police Dog Nikko located a 23-year-old woman trying to climb a fence.

He took hold of her foot and pulled her to the ground, holding her there until police arrived and arrested the woman.

She was taken to hospital for treatment on dog bites.

Police Dog Rivva found a 27-year-old man hiding in long grass and he was arrested without incident.

A 21-year-old from Gosnells has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, failing to stop, reckless driving, no authority to drive and failing to stop (property damage).

A 23-year-old woman from Balga and a 27-year-old man from Warwick have both been charged with stealing a motor vehicle.

All three accused have been refused bail and are due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court today.
