Police mount up for attack on local crime

The three-month South-East Metropolitan Police District operation, launched to disrupt criminal activity in the area, includes high-visibility bike, mounted and smart car patrols, as well as active pursuit of known offenders.

Armadale Police officer-in-charge John Bouwman said in the past two weeks, mounted officers had stopped vehicles for traffic breaches, conducted searches for illegal substances and responded to incidents of anti-social behaviour in the CBD, activities that had resulted in infringements.

‘Their unique presence has offered another avenue for residents to speak to police as well as apprehend offenders,’ he said.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said he was pleased to see the increased presence of patrols.
