Twenty-seven bands entered this year, and the six finalists to face off at Thornlie’s Don Russell Performing Arts Centre were Iceage Sugar, The Eb Oreo, Tell The Shaman and pop singer-songwriter Naomi Hart (14), who won the $500 encouragement award.

All winners will also get recording time at Soundlab recording studio in Southern River.

This year the competition branched out, providing workshops and networking opportunities for participants, including a visit from Eskimo Joe’s Joel Quartermain, Electronic Producers Showcase with Stevie C, Studio Session with SpaceManAntics, and vocal workshop with Aysha Amani.
