‘This incredibly stupid act could have exposed the recycling staff to extreme danger during the various stages of recycle collection either at the address, or during the separation stage at the depot,’ Canning Vale police Senior Sergeant Simon Underwood said.
‘We’re extremely thankful that vigilant recycling staff identified the ammunition early and took steps to secure it.’
He asked anyone possessing surplus ammunition to hand it in to their local police, who would see it destroyed safely.
