Located on Abernethy Road, the mall will include a mix of specialty retailers, food outlets, alfresco dining and a Coles supermarket.

The supermarket will span 4200sq m and include about 300 parking spaces, street parking and a taxi bay.

Coles state property manager Bruce McCully said the development was expected to generate new jobs and draw visitors to the growing area.

"Crucially, the development will provide an employment bonanza for the local area as we look forward to welcoming more than 100 new team members at Coles and around 50 employees at specialty retailers in the town centre retail precinct," he said.

"With the construction also expected to create around 250 more jobs in building and services, the additional employment will provide a massive boost to the burgeoning Byford economy."

The precinct will feature public artwork in the form of a chimney stack integrated into the Town Square, paying homage to Byford Brickworks.

As part of Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale upgrades to Abernethy Road, the development will also include construction of new roads and services, improving connections to the town centre.

Mr McCully said as Byford and the surrounding region continue to grow, there was a continuing need to enhance shopping facilities.

Civil works are under way at the site and construction is expected to start by early next year.
