Riding for the Disabled Association Orange Grove secures funding for state games’ future

Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Orange Grove have applauded renewed funding which has secure the future of the state games.

The not-for-profit organisation provides people living with disabilities with therapeutic and recreational horse activities.

The Orange Grove centre is one of 19 centres in WA to benefit from an $80,000 donation from Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA, including $12,000 towards the sponsorship of the state games.

RDA Orange Grove secretary Julie Di Florio said the state games were a highlight of the children’s year and she was glad they would continue.

“Part of the funding is going to sponsor the state games, where children from all centres go to Fairbridge, they have arenas and an obstacle course the children do,” she said.

“I know the children look forward to doing the state games and meeting children from other centres.”

The Orange Grove centre will receive funding for horse welfare payment, which they will give to horse owners who lend their horses to the organisation to use.

Ms Di Florio said the centre was always looking for volunteers willing to loan horses to be used.
