Relatives from around Australia turned up to celebrate, bearing an enormous cake with Scottish decorations.

Therapy co-ordinator Liz Short said Nan, as staff affectionately call her, was born in Kilarnoch in Scotland on December 23, 1913 and left school at age 14, before working as a shop assistant and nursing aide.

She moved to Australia in 1952 and now has four children, 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A keen golfer, bowler, crocheter, knitter, sewer and gardener, Mrs Sansom was a member of Rockingham Bowling Club for many years and a life member of Rockingham Golf Club after being its president and secretary for 12 years.
