SHIRE of Serpentine Jarrahdale helped local sports clubs plan for the future at its recent sporting club development workshop.
Arranged by the Shire and supported by the Department of Sport and Recreation in partnership with JGC Group, the workshop hoped to assist clubs with the development of future strategic plans.
Twenty-three volunteers from 10 different sporting clubs from within the Shire attended the workshop and heard from JGC Group director Gary Collins about the importance of planning and goal setting.
Shire President John Erren said sustainability was crucial to the long-term health of local clubs.
“When our clubs are well managed and able to provide a clear direction of their needs and aspirations, it assists council to plan for facilities and programs,” he said.
“Knowing the direction local clubs intend to take as they grow to accommodate our growing community means that we can take their plans into consideration when looking at ‘big picture’ planning for facilities like Briggs Park, or a future regional sporting facility.”
