SES urges Armadale residents to prepare for winter storms

DANGEROUS storms are the most common natural hazard in Australia and Armadale residents have been urged to make sure their homes are storm safe this winter.

Most storm damage to homes occurs from loose and broken roof materials, fallen trees and branches and flooding from blocked gutters and downpipes.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said storms were unpredictable and the damage they can cause should not be underestimated.

“Preparing your property for the winter storm season is vital,” he said.

“By simply taking basic actions you could significantly minimise the damage your home may sustain during a storm.

“Properly preparing your home also takes away the worry your family may experience if a storm hits.”

To report property damage during a storm contact Armadale SES on 13 25 00.

If there are fallen power lines, stay well clear as they may still be live and call Western Power on 13 13 51.
