Seville Grove: Police car damaged in high speed chase

A POLICE car was damaged overnight following a high-speed pursuit of a stolen Holden Astra in Seville Grove overnight.

About 1.25am (December 24), police were travelling south on Seville Drive in Seville Grove when they observed a stolen car travelling in the opposite direction.

Police attempted to stop the Holden Astra, however, the driver accelerated away.

They evaded police through various streets before losing control on a roundabout.

The car continued on through streets in Forestdale again losing control on Bessimer Road and landing in a ditch.

The driver continued to travel through scrubland and returned to the road with significant damage.

A short time later, the driver entered the driveway of a nearby rural property on Ranford Road and crashed through gates.

They drove up the driveway and into the rear paddock of the property, before again entering Ranford Road.

The police car following received damage after a section of the gate fell onto it and the incident was aborted.

Later, the offending vehicle was found abandoned on Tonkin Highway near Ranford Road.

Despite a search which included the use of the canine section, the occupants of the car were not found.
