Mr Shorten arrived in WA after several members of the Federal Labor party announced they would not contest the next election.
WA MPs Melissa Parke, Gary Gray and Alannah MacTiernan will not seek re-election in their respective seats of Fremantle, Brand and Perth at the upcoming federal election.
“The Labor Party will pick three fantastic candidates for Fremantle, Brand and Perth,” Mr Shorten said.
“It’s a once in a generation opportunity to bring in new blood to these seats and I am really looking forward to that and I’m sure the Labor Party will go through its processes.”
The main reason for the visit by Mr Keogh and Mr Shorten was to promote Labor’s “Your Child. Our Future” policy.
Mr Keogh said it was all about educational opportunities,
“Making sure that no matter what background a child comes from, no matter which school system they are in, they get the absolute best opportunity of an education, so they have the best opportunities for their future,” he said.
