Skate park opening in Serpentine

A NEW skate park is set to be opened in Serpentine on November 17.

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale now features three skate parks in the region, with the new one to open on Clem Kentish Reserve, Wellard Street, Serpentine, from 4pm to 6pm on November 17.

Residents are invited to come along to the opening, which will feature a range of activities from the YMCA.

There will be a deck design competition, skate competition and Y Time activities.

There will also be a free sausage sizzle.

The park features a four-foot bowl, quarter pipe, taco, and a curved ledge for a portion of the structure, as well as free Wi-Fi.

Shire President John Erren said council was committed to providing facilities for young people in the area.

“Following on from the success of the Jarrahdale and Mundijong skate parks, we’re pleased to provide an area for our young people to keep physically fit and healthy while hanging out with their friends,” he said.

“It’s important that we give them every opportunity to enjoy the best that Serpentine Jarrahdale has to offer.”
