IT is official: Rump Shakers are home to the best burger in WA.
The Southern River butchers have been named the Australian Meat Industry Council’s gourmet burger state champions for their lamb burger.
Owner John Bain said the winning patty, which combines lamb with oregano, pepper and sundried tomatoes, was unique.
“It’s a little different to have (those ingredients) in a lamb burger. There are a few trade secrets, but the main thing is good quality south-western lamb,” he said.
Mr Bain was quick to pay tribute to his hard-working staff and said the title would not have been possible without them.
“We know we put a good product out and went up against guys who have been around for a long time, a lot of big names,” he said.
“We’re pretty proud of what we do, but it was a team effort from all my boys.”
As a result of their victory at the state titles, Rump Shakers have qualified for the national competition in Melbourne next year and Mr Bain said they were excited to mix it with the best.
“Just getting there is an achievement, but I’m extremely happy and proud,” he said.
“We’ll go as hard as we can and have a crack at it, go over and show our name about.”
