Sparks fly in Maddington high-speed chase

IT was like something out of a Hollywood movie, but it happened in downtown Maddington.

A Toyota Landcruiser was towing a trailer about 7.45pm last night when the driver decided they didn’t want to stop for police on Phillip Street.

The wheels of the trailer fell off, causing a spectacular light show as the driver hit the accelerator.

The 4WD narrowly missed the level crossing boom gates at Kelvin Road, and that’s when police gave up their pursuit.

The incident was captured on video by Facebook user Manny.

As the video’s shell-shocked narrator said: “Welcome to Maddington.”

The Landcruiser was last seen headed south on Tonkin Highway.

Armadale Detectives would like to speak to 29-year-old Glen John Smith who they believe can help with their investigation into this incident.
