State Govt eases boundaries, enrolment fears at Southern River Primary

THE State Government has eased fears surrounding enrolments and boundaries at the new Southern River Primary School.

Concerned parents within the catchment area were worried they would be forced to enrol siblings at different schools after they were urged to submit applications for the new school.

Parents were encouraged to enrol their youngest children in the new school, which led some to believe to they would not be able to send them to the same school as older siblings.

However, Southern River MLA Terry Healy said he consulted Education Minister Sue Ellery and guaranteed this would not be the case.

“Parents with children already enrolled in an existing school in Southern River and/or Huntingdale will be able to enrol younger siblings in the same school rather than the new school,” he said.

Southern River Primary School is on schedule to open in time for the 2018 school year.
