Ms Chin said the program would be a chance to use her skills in international relations.

‘StatesMUN is an opportunity for me to participate with peers on a global scale,’ she said.

‘I’m looking forward to meeting amazing like-minded young people not only from Australia but around the world, all of whom will be bringing their experiences, motivations and ideas to share.’

The 20-year-old will start her fourth year of economics and international relations studies at Curtin University this year.

‘I am really excited about StatesMUN because I think this will add to my experience and understanding of how I can apply the skills I’ve learnt,’ she said.

Ms Chin will tour San Francisco, New York and Washington before the conference which runs from February 13 to 16.

The application process for StatesMUN included questions on debating and public speaking experience, involvement with community organisations and academic achievement.
