Students need helpers

About 160 students will receive support from the clubs.

Learning clubs are run in communities across the country that provide safe environments for disadvantaged students to carry out their homework and receive other learning support.

One such volunteer, Juan Garzon, has been volunteering since August last year helping with the robotics program.

“Apart of the obvious things to help children learn it gives me the opportunity to practise my programming skills with robotics,” he said.

“I think it is really gratifying to know you are helping others especially when you see the kids solving their own issues.”

Volunteers must complete a selection process with The Smith Family before they start.
