Members from all the Penguin Clubs in WA came together to celebrate.

The Australian Penguin Club was founded in Sydney in 1937, with the WA branch established in 1963.

The club was originally founded by women for women and it was one of the first organisations to give women the opportunity to develop communication skills.

Eileen Barrett from the Armadale Penguin Club said members looked to develop the confidence and communication skills needed in business and community organisations.

"At our group meetings the emphasis is on participation and practice," she said.

The Armadale Penguin club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 1pm at The Seville Grove library.
