The Mozart Faction: Maddington labourer stares death in the face in black comedy role

Ben SmithComment News

MADDINGTON labourer Callum Yardley will stare death in the face when he stars in Katie Rice’s The Mozart Faction.

The black comedy, directed by Siobhan O’Gara, finds a small suburban held at gunpoint in their church by an irate neighbour.

Mozart’s Requiem brings on a new meaning for the choir members, who each show their true colours when staring down the barrel of a gun.

“He is light-hearted and likes to laugh and joke around but, at his core, he is truly passionate about music,” he said.

“Ari is forgiving and fun but has a streak of steel in him – he is brave and shows that in his defiance.

“The challenge is to show the layers of a three-dimensional character with all his sides, not in separate sections, but linked as a whole.”

Yardley studied in London at the private acting conservatory The Poor School and has acted for the past seven years.

The Mozart Faction plays at 8pm April 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 with a 2pm matinee April 9.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concession – book on 9330 4565 or at www.meltheco.org.au.
