The Visit: Huntingdale and Armadale actors ready to tread the boards

Jessica WarrinerComment News

A HUNTINGDALE resident and Armdale local are treading the boards for the latest Actors’ Hub production.

Jared Stephenson and Tyler Kirk both feature in The Visit, written by Freidrich Durrenmatt and first performed in 1956, exploring the relationship between people and money.

The story looks at an impoverished town offered $1 million if they kill a woman’s former lover – and while the townspeople initially refuse, their resolve is worn down by the allure of wealth.

It’s the first show for the Actors’ Hub in their new East Perth venue, directed by Amanda Crewes.

“Even though it clearly reflects the playwright’s proximity to both the Holocaust and accompanying absurdist revolution in theatre, The Visit is proving to be a somewhat timeless piece,” Ms Crewes said.

“It’s a tragi-comedy that deliciously sheds a light on the dark side, not dissimilar to the Brothers Grimm tales we loved so much as kids.”

The Visit plays at 7pm on October 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, with a 2pm matinee also on October 28.

The Actors’ Hub is at 129 Kensington Street, East Perth.

Tickets are $30 and $25 concession – book at trybooking.com/SIUP.
