It is alleged the man got into an altercation with Mr Burgess about a noisy party in the street.

Mr Burgess’s sister-in-law, Jodie Burgess, said he was a family man who left behind a loving wife and two sons, aged 11 and seven.

“Any person who ever knew him knows of his love for his wife and two boys,” she said.

“He was known widely for his generosity to help everyone.

“His capacity to give was immense and his loss will be deeply felt by so many.

“He was a keen fisherman, loved camping and four-wheel driving.

“He was your typical Aussie bloke who would give you his last dollar and the shirt off his back.”

Mrs Burgess said the family would like to thank everyone for their messages of support.

A Facebook page has been set up to help the family through this difficult time.
