Vandals hit grounds

VANDALS appear to be set on destroying the new grounds at Armadale Golf Course.

Programmed Property Services state manager of grounds Nick Clayton said in the past month a spate of attacks had taken place at the course.

"There were three attacks in one week," he said.

"They're digging up greens, smashing the tee markers and we�ve lost about five or six flags which are worth $100 each."

Two weeks ago a damaged flag was replaced and within the space of an hour " while staff were still on the grounds " the green keeper discovered it was broken again.

Mr Clayton believes the perpetrator lives near the course.

"It has to be a local " they're damaging their own community facility,� he said.

New machinery at the course is now under close watch.
