Visits to libraries in Gosnells on the rise

The Amherst Village Library, Kenwick Library, Knowledge Centre and Thornlie libraries all had more than 420,000 visits in the past financial year, according to the City’s annual report. In the 2010-11 financial year, the City’s libraries had fewer than 350,000 visits and hit more than 400,000 in the 2014-15 year.

The number of items loaned has dropped from almost 800,000 in 2014-15 to less than 750,000 in 2015-16.

Library memberships have increased by about 10,000 in the past five years and are currently more than 50,000.

The number of programs attended has doubled in the past five years, with more than 36,000 people attending library programs.

It was fewer than 19,000 five years ago.
