Woman dies in hospital after Martin siege

A 64-year-old woman has died in hospital after a siege in the south-eastern Perth suburb of Martin.

Police were called to the Douglas Road home about 9am on Monday to help another agency.

Once there, a five-hour stand-off was sparked when the woman and her 65-year-old husband allegedly made threats and police cordoned off Douglas Road as a precaution.

The Tactical Response Group attended the scene, and the couple was takenĀ into custody yesterday afternoon.

The woman was assessed by paramedics and taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where she later died.

The cause of her death is not believed to be suspicious.

The woman’s husband remains in hospital.
