X Trial to test riders’ skills

X Trial is a motorcycle sport that sees riders negotiate a man-made obstacle course.

Anything that could test the riders is used, from earth moving tyres to skip bins and cable drums.

X Trial invites the top six riders in the country, and two wildcard entries.

People will be coming from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania to fight it out on the custom- built course at Baseball Park.

Event director Neil Price, who is the top ranked West Australian, said it would be a far more extreme event than just riding between the cones.

“The riders will have to take on 2-3 metre vertical walls, jump four-metre gaps with no run-up and take off from platforms shorter than their bike length,” he said.

“With man-made obstacles, the danger factor is much higher and the riders have to make a big commitment just to compete, let alone take out a win.

“This gives the audience an awesome show and it is a cheap family night out.”
