Young talent on show

The song, written with this year’s theme ‘It starts with us,’ will be performed at the City’s event in Maddington on April 18.

Despite performing and writing with different local bands, the young musicians are all part of the City’s Soundlab Music Crew program and have come together specifically for this project.

Gosnells Mayor Dave Griffiths praised the commitment of the group for writing the lyrics and music in under two months.

‘The work being done by these talented teenagers, aged between 13 and 17, highlights the importance of National Youth Week and really shows what young people can achieve,’ the mayor said.

‘The City’s NYW event during the April school holidays will not only give the community a chance to hear their song for the first time but also to come together to celebrate and support our young people.

‘There will be plenty of things to keep young people entertained, as well as lots of family activities to encourage parents and the wider community to join in the fun.’
