Childcare options there for workers

Janice TeoComment News

IN reply to Roger Davenport’s letter, Children forgotten in push to bolster workforce, Comment News, June 2, have you ever heard of childcare?

Most daycare centres take school-age children out of school hours and there are also some out-of-school care centres.

Of course, there’s a cost to childcare, but the lower your income the less you have to pay.

In New Zealand, where I’m from, it’s technically illegal to leave a child under 14 home alone, and I was surprised there’s no such law here, but I’m sure the great majority of parents don’t want to leave their primary school-age children alone regularly after school, especially into the evening.
